Il volume accoglie una selezione delle relazioni
più significative presentate nel corso di un Convegno Internazionale
organizzato alcuni anni fa dall’Istituto “Venezia e
l’Oriente” e dalla European Society for Central Asian
Studies. I profondi mutamenti geopolitici e geoeconomici che hanno
interessato e continuano ad interessare quell’area del mondo
e la sua identità culturale, hanno richiesto aggiornamenti
significativi dei singoli contributi, nonché l’integrazione
con alcuni nuovi studi che hanno arricchito le tre sezioni tematiche
dell’opera (“Space and Time in Central Asia History”,
“Redrawing the Lines of Identity”, “Reforms and Representations
of Legitimacy”).
