HAB talks to everyone: or at least to all those people who will listen to our heartbeat. The subject of our 2011 edition is: “Heart Speaks Unto Heart”. That’s why we’d like to hear the beating of every film director’s and film maker’s heart – all around the world.

With this initiative, Venice Arrhythmias aims to celebrate our heart’s meaningful power – both from a biological and from a specifically symbolic, cultural and artistic point of view.
That’s why HAB isn’t just a festival – we do consider it an essential occasion for meeting other people and getting in touch with different sensitivities – for gathering together worlds that so deeply affect our every day’s life: science and research meet art and creativity, in an absolutely new embrace, aiming to provide not only the festival’s audience, but its participants, too, with the chance of sharing experiences, visions, skills, feelings… in a few words, bits of life.
Out of the movie theatres and traditional festivals and into the interesting perspective of talking to a brand new audience, cinematographic art has a great chance to broaden its horizons – while the world of medical science and research has a fantastic opportunity to come close to one among the most universal languages of our society. But the real difference is the strong power joining the two together: life, and its perfect symbol – the heart. Heartbeats injecting new lifeblood into cinema and medicine, in a perfect circle of mutual advantages.
