Early-Music Seminars 2008 | Johann Rosenmüller 1617-1684. Music and dissimulation in 17th-century Europe

The Seminar for violinists and singers is dedicated to the works of Johann Rosenmüller (1617-1684). In particular, it compares his earlier German production (Studenten-Music, Kern-Sprüche), with his late output from the years of his Venetian exile (Psalms, Sonate 1682). This comparison opens various discussions of extraordinary musical, philological, and above all cultural-historical interest. Musicians are required to play historical instruments at pitch a = 415 H.. A continuo-group is at the students’ disposal (viola, bass, harpsichord, organ and theorbo).
