Located halfway between the Accademia Galleries and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, this 16th-century palazzo (and the adjacent Palazzo Loredan whose side elevation fronts on the Grand Canal) were once the residence of Count Vittorio Cini.

The first floor, or Piano Nobile, furnished with antiques and objets d’art reflecting the building’s original character and the personal taste of this great collector, features thirty paintings of the Tuscan school donated by Yana Cini to the Giorgio Cini Foundation in 1984, together with the section of the palazzo which currently houses the gallery. Alongside with paintings such as Sandro Botticelli’s Il giudizio di Paride, Pontormo’s Ritratto di due amici, Piero di Cosimo’s Madonna con il Bambino e due angeli and Cosmè Tura’s San Giorgio, are some fine pieces of applied arts: ceramics, porcelain – including a complete 275-piece set by Cozzi (the 18th-century Venetian manufacturers) -, ivory caskets and badges, enamels, gold-work, candle-sticks and chandeliers made in Murano, terra-cotta sculptures and furniture, including dressers, chests, bookcases, a rare Sienese marriage-chest of the mid-14th-century and an 18th-century Neapolitan sedan-chair.

The second floor is reserved for temporary exhibitions and, in recent years, has been used to display works owned by the Foundation.
