
Music on San Giorgio. Concerts at the Auditorium Lo Squero 2018

The 2018 concert season at the Squero Auditorium consists of twelve concerts, organised in collaboration with Asolo Musica, Associazione Amici della Musica.
The season begins on 24 February with cellist Mario Brunello, accompanied by Francesco Galligioni (viola da gamba) and Roberto Loreggian (organ and harpsichord), in the first of three concerts of music by Bach (the others are on 24 March and 27 October).
The Quartetto di Venezia, the quartet in residence at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini since 2017, has come up with a special project featuring performances of chamber music by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms with guest artists. There will thus be quartets (21 April and 19 May); quintets, with clarinettist Alessandro Carbonare (3 March), pianist Andrea Lucchesin (13 October) and violist Danilo Rossi (24 November); and sextets with Danilo Rossi, viola, and Mario Brunello, cello (10 November).
Lastly, there will be two dates with the Italian cellist and composer Giovanni Sollima (7 April and 12 May) and a concert led by the violinist and conductor Federico Guglielmo (17 November).
Concerts all begin at 5 pm.

The Squero Auditorium on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore is a former boat repairs shed, which was converted into a stunning, state-of the-art auditorium by architects Cattaruzza and Millosevich with the support of the Provveditorato Interregionale per le Opere Pubbliche del Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige, Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Fondazione Virginio Bruni Tedeschi.
