This map enables you to geolocate the video clips of the main performances of world music and dance staged by the Intercultural Institute of Comparative Music Studies (IISMC) in recent years. Organising public concerts and dance performances is one of the many IISMC activities. The Institute’s mission includes promoting knowledge about different musical cultures and investigating contemporary musical processes from an intercultural perspective.

 

The IISMC archive has a major collection of video documentation dating back to 1979. In recent years, all events have been documented in audio and video with multi-camera and multi-track systems. The clips on the IISMC – All Videos Playlist of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini YouTube Channel have been extrapolated from full recordings kept in the Institute archives.

 

To celebrate the millionth viewing of a video in 2021, this map, designed by Marco Lutzu, has been created to provide easier access to the videos on the playlist.

By clicking on the various countries, or selecting them from the menu on the left, which can be visualised by clicking the menu button, you can access the window containing all the videos of performances in a chosen geographical area. The videos can be viewed directly in the map interface or on the official website by clicking on the YouTube icon at the bottom right.
