    Cultural Partnership

    LE STANZE DEL VETRO

Le Stanze del Vetro is a cultural project created to celebrate glass as an artistic medium, hosting exhibitions by international artists and highlighting the expressive and innovative potential of this material. Le Stanze del Vetro has a 650 m2 exhibition space in the west wing of the former boarding school on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, redeveloped by Annabelle Selldorf Architects with the support of Fabrizio Cattaruzza and Francesco Millosevich. The project is promoted by Fondazione Giorgio Cini, in collaboration with Pentagram Stiftung, a Swiss non-profit organisation committed to the enhancement of glass.

In parallel with Le Stanze del Vetro, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini’s Institute of Art History has opened the Glass Study Centre, dedicated to historical research and innovations in glassmaking. Today it is the most important general archive of Venetian glass.

    LE STANZE DELLA FOTOGRAFIA

Le Stanze della Fotografia is an initiative of Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Marsilio Arte with the aim of creating a permanent venue for photography in Venice. The collaboration stems from Marsilio Arte’s experience in the field of photographic exhibitions and from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini’s history as the custodian of one of the most important photographic collections in Europe. Inaugurated in 2023, Le Stanze della Fotografia picks up the legacy of the historic Casa dei Tre Oci by relaunching its international vision. It is located on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in a building that was originally a customs warehouse, redesigned in 1870 and then and then became a boarding school in 1952. Today the centre is an international point of reference for photographic art.

    MUSICA A SAN GIORGIO

Musica a San Giorgio promotes musical events at the Auditorium ‘Lo Squero’ on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, in collaboration with Asolo Musica and Veneto Jazz. In 2016, the old boat repair shop was transformed into the modern and evocative Auditorium that hosts concert seasons that have now become a prestigious appointment for the entire city. The project contributes to the enhancement of the musical heritage by offering opportunities for emerging talents to meet the public.

    REGIONE DEL VENETO

The collaboration between the Regione del Veneto and the Fondazione Giorgio Cini is developed through a synergic programme aimed at enhancing the regional cultural heritage and promoting the prestigious artistic collections held by the Foundation. One of the most significant manifestations of this collaboration takes the form of initiatives such as those organised at the Monselice Castle, a symbol of the rich link between Veneto culture and the work of Vittorio Cini. In fact, the Region has supported and continues to support numerous projects involving the enhancement of Cini’s art collections, promoting knowledge and enjoyment of the local artistic heritage.

To support these initiatives, the Regione del Veneto has established Regional Law no. 24 of 3 August 2021, which is a tangible sign of support for the Foundation’s cultural activities, including through a Collaboration Agreement that allows joint cultural projects to be developed annually. The Regional Photo Library, entrusted to the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in 1981, collects about 60,000 photographs of works of art, weapons, coins and objects of cultural interest from museums and local collections. On 20 June 2023, the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, in collaboration with the Regione del Veneto, following a massive digitisation campaign, presented the new portal for online consultation of the Regional Photographic Library, comprising more than twenty thousand files on photographs, prints and art objects from museums in the Veneto including the prestigious collection of antique arms from Monselice Castle.

    DORSODURO MUSEUM MILE

Conceived in 2015, Dorsoduro Museum Mile guides the visitor on a journey of just over a mile in Dorsoduro. Between the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal it allows a journey through eight centuries of world art history: from the masterpieces of medieval and Renaissance Venetian painting at the Gallerie dell’Accademia to the protagonists of the contemporary art scene on display at Punta della Dogana, passing through the historic museum-houses of Vittorio Cini and Peggy Guggenheim.

By purchasing a ticket in one of the venues of the Dorsoduro Museum Mile or showing the Membership Card of one of the partners you can receive a discount in the other venues of the circuit.

    HOMO FABER

Starting in 2018, Homo Faber presents craftsmanship excellence from around the world every two years, an initiative organised by Michelangelo Foundation in collaboration with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and Fondazione Giorgio Cini. At each edition, the spaces on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore are transformed, taking on new life. In 2024, the artistic direction was entrusted to Luca Guadagnino together with architect Nicolò Rosmarini with the theme of The Journey of Life.
